SAFARI IN THE DZANGHA SANGHA PARK – SANGHA RIVER CROSSING -POINTE NOIRE – CONKOUATI RIVER – CHIMPANZEE SANCTUARY OF CONKOUATI
Please note:
- The order of visits and excursions can be modified according to local conditions (i.e. state of roads, market days…).
- If some visits and / or tours could not be done due to external conditions, they will be replaced when possible.
- There are long distances between cities and towns, and often roads or tracks are in bad conditions.
- It is highly recommended to bring a sole big bag for the trip plus one or two back packs.
Equipment to bring:
We try to provide all essential travel material, such as life vests, tarps, machetes, chain saw (if needed for a tree fall), but it is advisable that you are well prepared for your stay. Please bring a rain coat, hat, and sun blocker.
- Hat, sun glasses, sun blocker.
- Water proof bag (ideally sealine, ortlieb…) for your clothes and material and a small bag when entering the forest – ideally always use waterproof bags.
- Simple shoes to walk – do not invest a lot of money in shoes as you will occasionally enter into water and even waterproof shoes will get wet inside. You can take simple plastic sandals or Tevas or surf shoes or rain boots.
- Binoculars and video/photo cameras, ideally a 400mm lens.
- Insect repellent, shirt with long sleeves and long trousers (for the evening, particularly in Conkouati Park and while walking in the dense forest). All beds have mosquito nets.
- Security locks.
- Torches (ideally head torch) and enough batteries.
- Rain coat or poncho and a small umbrella.

PARIS – YAOUNDE
Arrival and transfer at the hotel, meeting point on the tour and rest at the hotel.
YAOUNDE – BERTOUA OR BATOURI
Breakfast and departure to the eastern capital of the country, Bertoua, hub of many Central Africa travelers. The city experiences a demographic growth, due to refugees from the neighboring countries. Installation at the hotel. BB
BERTOUA – YOKADOUMA
Breakfast and early departure to the town of Yokadouma, through the forest town of Di-mako, under a very lush landscape. Picnic, arrival and installation at the hotel Elephant and rest. BB
YOKADOUMA – LIBONGO – REPUBLIQUE CENTRAFRICAINE (DOLI LODGE)
Breakfast and departure to the border, while on the road we can glimpse buffalos and monkeys in the trees. Arrival at the border, paperwork and transfer by speedboat to Sangha Lodge (3 hours). Installation in the magnificent environment of the Doli Lodge. BB
DZANGHA SANGHA PARC (GORILLA TREKKING)
Breakfast on the Lodge terrace and its view on the river, and departure to the parc for a day dedicated to gorillas watching. Back to Bayanga, small village where the WWF HQ are lo-cated. A hunting party may be organized with pygmies in the afternoon, back to the lodge and rest. BB
DZANGHA SANGHA PARC (ELEPHANTS TREKKING)
Breakfast and departure to the second most well known site within the park for its important population of elephants, antelopes, buffalos, birds, etc. Back to the lodge and rest, sunset watching by the river. BB
DOLI – LODGE – DOWN THE RIVER TO CONGO (OUESSO)
Breakfast and transfer by speedboat to go down the Sangha river, it takes around 6 hours of navigation surrounded by a unique huge vegetation. Arrival at Ouesso and formalities, trans-fer at the hotel and rest. BB
OUESSO – POINTE NOIRE
Breakfast and transfer at the airport, flight to the town of Pointe Noire, arrival and installa-tion at the hotel. Time to relax around the swimming pool or by the ocean and rest at the hotel. BB
POINTE NOIRE- CONKOUATI PARK
Breakfast and early departure with the Conkouati project’s vehicle for a 4 hours drive. Visit of the Chimp Sanctuary that’s taken care of by a French woman. Installation at a villa with a view onto the Counkouati lake and rest. FB
CONKOUATI
Early rise and departure to ride on a safari, buffalos and elephants watching… Back to the villa for breakfast and a small rest, then departure for a boat trip on the Conkouati river for some animal watching near the lagune and river (elephants, buffalos, gorillas…). Back to the villa and dinner. FB
CONKOUATI-POINTE NOIRE-France
Breakfast and departure to Pointe Noire, installation at the hotel and visit to the handicrafts market, lunch break and rest, transfer during evening to the airport and end of our services.
